Ball scored twice in a rare start against Dagenham in midweek and the 2-0 win left Darren Ferguson's side just three points behind second-placed Huddersfield - who they face this weekend.
Ball said: "I've been patient and I've been working hard, but I desperately want to be part of this team.
"The gaffer gave me a chance on Tuesday and I took it. Getting the two goals so early on was great for my confidence.
"It was a good result against Dagenham and sets us up nicely for a big game this weekend. We want to win at Huddersfield and get above them, then it's case of seeing what happens.
"We think we can win all our remaining games."
