The Posh midfielder sustained a metatarsal injury during the match against Nottingham Forest last weekend and was substituted 30 minutes into the 2-1 defeat at London Road.
Coutts is likely to be sidelined for a number of weeks with the injury and so will therefore miss Scotland U21's match at St Mirren Park on 10th October.
