Coventry Target Posh Strike Duo

Posh Direcor of Football Barry Fry has revealed that the Sky Blues had enquired about signing the pair after the game between the two side's at The Ricoh Arena last weekend.

McLean has handed in a transfer request, which has been accepted by Posh, whilst Fry believes that Mackail-Smith is also the subject of interest from Premier League sides although Posh are reluctant to sell him.

"Coventry told me straight after our game there on Saturday they wanted to sign Aaron and Craig in January so I told them our asking price," Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

"They are going to discuss it at a board meeting and get back to me but believe me there isn't enough money in Coventry to get either of them.

"We are not interested in selling Craig anyway. If we were we would be more likely to sell him to a Premier League club because there has been a bit of interest.

"But our chairman is keen to keep as much of the squad together as possible because even if we suffered the misfortune of relegation we would have a strong team for a League One campaign."
