McCann makes light of Posh role

The former Scunthorpe man told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's nice when people put those kind of stats to you.

"But it's a team game and we've got a very good squad. We've just been unlucky with injuries and suspensions."

McCann has missed Peterborough's last three matches after being sent off in the 3-2 defeat by Notts County.

In those three games, Posh have suffered two defeats, including last Saturday's 2-0 reverse at Hartlepool.

"I've not had many red cards in my career, I think I've only had two or three, so to get sent off is a bit unlike me," added McCann.

"It was just a mistimed tackle and I think their bench got me sent off in the end. It was unfortunate, but I'm sure it won't happen again."

Midfielder McCann has scored twice for Posh in the league this season and has provided seven assists.

He is fully fit for Saturday's visit of Swindon having played for Northern Ireland in their draw with Italy.

"I'd picked up a little injury and played a couple of games for Peterborough when I probably shouldn't have done," said McCann.

"I played in the Italy game and have been training every day so I'm ready if the manager wants to pick me."

Posh, who were relegated from the Championship last season, lie third in League One, level on points with second-placed Carlisle.
