"We've put another bid in and hopefully it's good enough," Ferguson has told BBC Sport.
"West Brom and Manchester United are reportedly in for him, but we're trying our best to complete a deal.
"He comes from a good background, wants to improve as a player, and we've had some good reports about him.
"He's one of the best young centre-backs around and he's got good height, which we'll need next season."
