McLean, 27, told BBC Look East: "He wasn't happy at all, he absolutely hammered the lot of us.

"Our first-half performances here haven't been good enough, they were the better team by far in the first half."

The London Road crowd have been treated to some entertaining affairs this season, with the home side scoring 14 goals in front of their own fans.

Victory over the Dons left them second in League One and McLean is confident Johnson has built a promotion-winning side.

"We've got a smaller squad this year but it's packed with quality," he said.

"You look at the players that came on, they're players that would walk into other teams in the league.

"We've got a good strong squad and hopefully that will pay dividends at the end of the season."

The former Grays forward took his goal tally to seven at the weekend, keeping him neck-and-neck with strike partner Craig Mackail-Smith and adding some spice to their annual tussle to finish top of the goalscoring charts.

"We're both on seven, it's good for us and good for the team," McLean added.

"We know that as long as we're both scoring goals we're going to be up there.

"Hopefully I can notch a few more than him come the end of the season but I'm buzzing we're both doing well."
