Smith set for kick-off

Peterborough striker Craig Mackail-Smith says he is relishing the prospect of opening up their new npower League One campaign against Bristol Rovers on Saturday. Mackail-Smith bagged a hat-trick for Posh in their last outing against Rovers in September 2008, helping his team secure an epic 5-4 victory. And after opening up his account for the new season in a 3-1 friendly triumph over Barnet last weekend, the 26-year-old believes he and fellow front man Aaron McLean will find their best form for the start of the new campaign. He told the club's official website: "I believe that we will make a good start to the season, this team are raring to go and we believe we can have a very successful campaign. "It was nice to get off the mark in terms of goal-scoring against Barnet because going through pre-season without a goal would not have been ideal, but it was perfect timing going into the new campaign. I think myself and Aaron McLean have done well together as a partnership. "We have been a bit rusty but we are getting back to how we were. It took a few games to get the link-up play right, but now we are going into the competitive games I am sure we will starting firing on all cylinders."
