Hartlepool United hit back from two goals down to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory at Peterborough United.

The Nationwide Division Two new boys looked down and out when they trailed 3-1 in the 51st minute but they hit back to seal a fine comeback.

Barry Fry’s side took the lead in the 18th minute from the penalty spot.

Sagi Burton was brought down by Andy Jordan and Mark Arber coolly slotted the spot-kick home.

The Posh doubled their advantage five minutes later when a mix-up between Anthony Williams and Chris Westwood allowed Andy Clarke to blast home the second.

The visitors pulled a goal back seven minutes before the interval when Gavin Strachan curled a free-kick home.

However, Peterborough restored their two-goal advantage just four minutes after the break.

Clarke pounced on an error by Matty Robson before slotting home his second goal of the afternoon.

Hartlepool responded well though and scored their second goal of the game in the 55th minute when Paul Robinson netted after good work by Eifion Williams.

The visitors grabbed an equaliser in the 67th minute as Robson benefited from some poor Peterborough defending to beat Mark Tyler.

The comeback was complete in the 83rd minute as Michael Nelson blasted a great strike past the Peterborough keeper to secure a fine away win.
