"It feels great to have got the monkey off our backs," Ferguson said after the game.
"The lads could have gone one of two ways in the second half. They could have hidden and gone under but they showed immense character to turn things around and pick up a great result.
"I always felt we would have a chance if we could score the first goal in the second half and that's the way it turned out.
"The fans were absolutely unbelievable and they played a big part in getting us through.
"Hopefully this can now be the turning point of our season."
