Ferguson- Race going down to wire

Ferguson made the prediction after seeing his side demolish Carlisle 6-0 at London Road to move up to third in the table.

Tommy Rowe got the ball rolling after two minutes, George Boyd scored twice and Craig Mackail-Smith, Ryan Bennett and substitute David Ball were also on target.

"It was very satisfying and enjoyable to see my team play that way," said Ferguson, who also saw Grant McCann and Boyd miss second-half penalties. "Not only did we win the game comfortably but we also played some very, very good football and it is always important to entertain the fans.

"We have always known we have goals in our team. The players have great confidence and a strong belief in each others' ability.

"We are having a good run but so are other teams around us and I feel sure the promotion race is going to go right down to the wire. We might need to win every game we have left to go up and we have three tough away fixtures coming up in the next couple of weeks."
