Johnson unsure over winter break

But Johnson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We never know when the cold weather will arrive, so if we have a winter break when should we have it?

"In other countries you can predict when the worst of the winter weather will come."

Johnson - who has worked as Latvian national coach - believes cheaper methods of heating pitches need to be developed.

Posh have played just twice over the past month and Johnson says the authorities may already be considering extending the season.

"If we lose the Christmas games and we're suddenly trying to fit in four or five matches, it could get very difficult in terms of negotiating with other clubs," he said.

"I'm not booking my holiday for June just yet as we could still be playing and it could become a real problem for the powers that be."

While matches have been disrupted, Posh have at least manage to train on a regular basis.

Johnson says they are grateful for the help they have received from the local community.

"You can't train at the training ground because the grass is obviously too hard, but we've managed to find 3G facilities locally," he said.

"We've had to adapt, but we're trying to do as much as we would normally do just on a smaller area."
