Ferguson to shuffle Posh's pack

Darren Ferguson will make changes to his Peterborough team for the visit of Reading in the Capital One Cup second round.

The Posh boss stated after Saturday's 5-0 league win at Tranmere that he would give some players a run out against the Royals and rest others, with Grant McCann and Kgosi Ntlhe two of those who look set to be replaced.

"I will definitely look to make changes against Reading," said Ferguson.

"We have a squad and I have to utilise it. Jack Payne will definitely be involved so I may look to give Grant a rest in midfield.

"Mark Little was excellent when he came on for Kgosi so I could switch Craig Alcock to left-back and play him at right-back. I have to be careful with Kgosi because he is a young lad and has been out for a long while in the past, so I need to take that into consideration."

Reading boss Nigel Adkins is expected to make changes.

Adkins is still without winger Jimmy Kebe, who has a groin injury, while midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is recovering from ankle surgery and striker Jason Roberts continues to be sidelined by a hip problem.

Defenders Kaspars Gorkss and Adrian Mariappa could make their first appearances of the season while midfielder Danny Williams, the summer signing from Hoffenheim, is in line to make his full debut.

Striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, who has made just two brief substitute appearances so far this term, could also be handed a start.
