Peterborough V Swindon at London Road Ground - Match Preview

Tomlin set to shrug off knocks

Lee Tomlin is expected to be fit for Peterborough's opening game of the season against Swindon at London Road.

Tomlin has been nursing knee and ankle knocks towards the end of Posh's pre-season preparations but the forward appears to be winning his fitness battle ahead of Saturday's big kick-off.

Key players George Boyd and Dwight Gayle departed this summer to Hull and Crystal Palace respectively but manager Darren Ferguson has added to his ranks, including breaking the club's transfer record this week to sign striker Britt Assombalonga from Watford.

Assombalonga will hope to make his debut while Jack Payne, on loan at Posh last season, has now signed a permanent deal.

Swindon caretaker boss Mark Cooper will be without suspended defender Nathan Byrne.

The 21-year-old was dismissed for picking up two bookings in last season's play-off semi-final second-leg clash with Brentford and will serve a one-match ban.

Midfield trio Alex Pritchard, Ryan Mason and Massimo Luongo, all on season-long loans from Tottenham, will be hoping to make their debuts.

Defender Grant Hall, also borrowed from Spurs, is in contention to make his first start.
